In this series premiere, veteran bear guides begin the long journey to Churchill, Man., the polar bear capital of the world. Each fall, the town prepares for a collision of 1,000 migrating bears and the 10,000 tourists who travel from far and wide to see them.

With polar bear season underway, tourists have descended on Churchill and the town’s bear guides are gearing up. When certain clients get too pushy, guide Kelsey Eliasson and trainee Andrea Dillon are put in difficult—and potentially dangerous—situations.

Halloween has arrived in Churchill, marking the busiest day of the year for Conservation. With all the festivities, the chances of encountering a bear are high. The officers can only hope that this year goes more smoothly than the last.

With winter in full swing and the bay frozen over, Conservation gets ready to release the bears from their holding facility. Meanwhile, Dennis searches for his polar bear friend, Dancer, who may now be too old to survive the arduous journey to Churchill.

Now that polar bear season is over, scientists and bear guides enter the next chapter of life in Churchill. As pregnant female bears migrate south to give birth, a team of scientists hopes to witness the mothers and their cubs.
