Episode 1 - Love is all Around
In 1968, Bezhig Little Bird and her siblings are removed from their home on the Long Pine Reserve and adopted into white families. Now in her 20s, Bezhig lives in Montreal as a Jewish woman named Esther Rosenblum, who seeks to uncover the truth of her past.
Episode 2 - So Put Together
Esther finds her adoption papers and an old newspaper clipping that evoke fuzzy memories of her young life on the Long Pine Reserve. Determined to learn more, she uproots her life in Montreal and sacrifices everything in search of the family she lost.
Episode 3 - The Land that Takes You
Patti Little Bird is desperate to get her kids back, but she doesn’t know where they are. Eighteen years later, Esther, who has made her way out west, is desperate to find her birth family. Both women are lost, tangled in the exact same place, decades apart.
Episode 4 - Burning Down The House
Esther finds family members who help her piece together her past. She returns home to Montreal to confront her adoptive mother about the revelations she’s uncovered, changing the way they both see the past.
Episode 5 - I Want My Mom
Esther returns to the Prairies to continue uncovering her past and reconnecting the severed ties within her birth family. When tragedy strikes, Esther realizes that she needs her adoptive mother, Golda, more than anything.
Episode 6 - Bineshi Kwe
After much love and sorrow, the Little Bird family comes together to mourn death and celebrate life. The bond between Esther and Golda is stronger than ever. Esther’s onerous journey has come to an end, and she’s finally found what she’s been looking for.
